Why are we in London and WHERE IS SAM?

So yesterday night (Tuesday) we decided to head(my roommate, four other girls and myself) to brick lane for a free show. Well we arrived and there was no free show. But the club was pretty cool and we were on brick lane so we grabbed some grub, a drink and vibed to some music and had a good chat.

After our lovely time there we headed back to the dorms on the tube. One of the girls decides to do a flip over one of the poles and a guy starts yelling "Oh my God, it's Spiderman!!!" "Don't Move, I'm gonna take a picture"... So the two, a boy and a girl, come over and they're trashed. But they were exteremely enjoyable. We were talking about Uni(university), and where we went to school and all that good stuff. Then in the middle of the converastion the boy says "Where's Sam?" Apparently they had a friend named Sam whom they forgot about. So for throughout the rest of the conversation we hear. "Why are we in London and Where is Sam?" So finally our stop comes up and we head off, not before we have 2 intense group hugs.

It was hilarious and I'm glad a was present for that adventure. Until next time Tube...

Rise of the Night Terrors

So this weekend was pretty uneventful.
I went out to the Sports Cafe in Leicester Square on Friday. Wasn't really pop, so we tried to go to O'Neils but there was an £8 cover, ended up at McDonald's got a £2 meal, DOPE! Then headed back to the sports cafe. Paparazi was killin' me though, every 5 seconds new picture. But it was fun the second time around.
Saturday I didn't do ANYTHING. Stayed in, did some homework, tried doing some homework, watched tons of online television. Then finally went outside for a half an hour for a girl's B-day party.
Sunday was more productive. Went on a market tour at the east end, hit up this Eid celebration in Trafalgar Square, went to the National Portrait Gallery for homework. Then came back to school and did some more reading for 2 hours. Chilled, had some cake for a girl on my floor's b-day, talked to Nitra on Skype (highlight!) and then talked in the kitchen for a while and went to sleep.

But this is not the reason for this post. Before I went to sleep I was listening to Stay Too Long by Plan B " 'cause I always stay too long, long enough for something to go wrong." So I went to sleep and had like the craziest everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I went back to MN after my semester was up, except I was suppose to go to NY and my family there was upset at me. Then my stepfather started yelling at me in front of my company. I was trying to calm everything down, but that didn't work. So I yelled back and he left. I was with some guy, I do not like...last resort kinda stuff. Then I went out to the club, wouldn't let me in because I had an ID that said under 21. And I told them I just got back into the country. They bouncer was gonna let me in but I started trippin' out. Yelling about how it was wack I couldn't get in and who cares if I didn't get a new ID, this one's till valid. It was wild. I was going bananers. They were about to take me to the police station but then my roommate's phone woke me up. I awoke with a straining pain in my chest. Now writing it out, doesn't seem so bad, but for the most part it freaked me out.

I apparently have many things on the brain.
But the sun is shining, and I'm gonna prep for class in the afternoon, HOLLA!

Why would anyone want their water to sparkle?

The title is a statement my roommate said after someone asked her about the sparkling water in the fridge. It got me thinking. Basically thoughts everywhere. But finally I closed in on something. Learning. You learn something new everyday. So I came up with this list of things I learned this week.

What I Learned This Week
  1. The BBFC could kick the LCC's butt any day of the week.
  2. I should NOT go party the night before my 2 course in a row days
  3. But I should go out and have fun.
  4. I watch WAAAY too much EastEnders E20, I think I should get a hobby
  5. I like pickled onion chips (tight on your breath after those though)
  6. Finding the Pret Recruitment Center, is not as easy as they said it would be.
  7. London's history is basically a bloody mess (literally and metaphorically)
  8. The Beatles are the reason the British have a Youth Culture, or else they'd all still be walking around like American teens. (The difference between American teens and Britain teens, the British Flag)
  9. In the U.K. Asians are paki, indian, bangl, etc.. Orientals are chinese, japaese, etc...
  10. My instructor for Brit Youth Culture is also gonna be my music guru. (look up Plan B)
  11. I am dislike my production instructor. She needs to chill and think before she speaks.
  12. Tooting is not something you do with your butt, it's a place.
  13. My Prof Julian is the beezkneez
  14. Sometimes you get woken up by the ICU fight song, but you just have to roll over and go back to sleep.
  15. I should try harder to ignore people on the tube.
  16. Just because a kitchen is named after me does not give me immediate reign to take over the store.
  17. Keep myself busy or else I'll be sittin' up in my room, daydreamin' about you(singing) I must confess I'm a mess for you...
  18. Thank God that I am blessed to even be here.

No more partying before 10am class

Hello all.
How has everyone been since the last time we've talked? Well I've been just dandy. Classes started on Monday. So far so good in that department, except today was a struggle to stay awake. We all went out to Pyke pub and then Tiger Tiger club near Leicester Square. It was mad crazy, I even got to practice my British accent and someone practiced their deep south accent with me. We were both pretty terrible, but I think mine was less terrible. We sat at the pub for a bit, had a cider and some pimms and then it was finally off to Tiger Tiger. Our student assistant got us in VIP, so cold! One thing that really made my night was getting free drinks (on accident). I was getting drinks for me & the girls. I gave the bartender my card and the girls took their drinks and I started on mine while I waited for him to get back. He comes back and says the card isn't working. So I gave him my half drank drink and headed to the atm. Money was not coming out and I couldn't find the bartender or the girls, so I just went on the rest of the night. No troubles, well I hope not. Fingers Crossed. Next time we go I will be sure to have money ready. But after that more dancing, photo op and then it was off to find the night bus home, which took a half an hour I might add and it was only 5 minutes away. But we finally arrived at 2:30 in the morning. Which sucked because I had 10am class and I commute, but totally worth it. I would not do it again though.

SN: I seen someone with a red beret on today. (for Kevin)

Being Orientated

So everyone in my program arrived yesterday (wednesday). We had a small group/floor meeting. Got my oyster card, just like a go-to card. I met my roommate. She's nice so far. Enjoying her company. Also met my kitchen mates, they're all boys (oh snaps!)..lol. But they're mad cool. They bought beer (under 21..oh to be young again). It was in shrink wrap.... weird, but it was cheap so I couldn't say much. Then my roommate and myself prepared for the long napping time when this Brit lady was screaming outside of her window. Reminded me of home, belligerent drunken underclassmen yelling, the best. Then went to sleep early yesterday at like 10pm. Woke up at 3 in the AM. Super wack. Took for ever to go back to sleep.

Then had to wake up at 8:20am. It was a rough morning, but I made it through all of the being talked at. Then it was lunch. Went to an Indian restaurant, was cool except I had to ask for the bill. CAN YOU CHECK ON US PLEASE??? We also bought cheap stuff, so they were probably like, "typical bloody Americans and their depleting financial system." Some bull like that. But yea, it was delicious so I can't complain too much. Then it was back to orientation. We walked around. Went to this place called the student Union, it's a union place for all London students, super dope. Gonna join, meet some Brits (some colored folk hopefully, lots of rich white kids in my group... lots of rich kids in general). Then we did some last minute stuff for class and met the faculty. My prof for History and Media & Politics is the dopest.

SN: Get a history prof born in the 60's, chances are they will be the best thing that ever happened to your educational experience.

Finally headed back to the res hall with one of the chicks from my class. Why on our way back from the tube stop in South Kensington did we get lost. Not taking directions from her again, but that's what I get for listening to others instead of my own thoughts. We got back though, had to ask 3 people for directions. The first was an American, the second was a Spaniard, and finally we found a Brit.

SN: Chelsea, the Manhattan of London. (Nobody from NYC actually lives in Manhattan)

We finally got back, about 10 mins after we should have. Gonna hit some pubs tonight if all goes right.

But until my return, keep fist pumpin'. xoxo.

Funny Things that made me laugh so far:
-British woman yelling
-My Academic Advisor Tripping (she didn't fall so I can laugh)
-My shower water smells like peanut butter
-My profs baby cried continuously at me today. I think she hates black people...lol. (she's mixed)
-My roommate smells like salami after she drinks
-The Mr. Whippy ice cream van (not as good as Mr. frosty)
-Asking for directions and 2 of the 3 people were not from London

London - Day 2

So I'm in London officially.
Today was a beautiful London day, filled with above average temperatures and sunshine. Apparently these people don't see the sun often. So I woke up at 6am. Then finally got back to sleep and a few hours later the cleaning lady came in and then the RA came in. It was funny. Finally woke up at 1pm. Ah to sleep in again. Not for long everyone moves in tomorrow and Orientation is the following day. Did some more adventuring. Went to McDonald's, lied to a man about my age so he wouldn't stop me about some saving the world venture and now I'm in Starbucks with my yogurt and tall chai tea. Man o' man I always have to go to Starbucks to get on the internet that or stand by the window (ghetto). A tad annoying, but worth it. And soon I'll be getting free chai if I keep using my Starbucks card. Overall I'm enjoying myself. I'll have more next week I'm sure other than sleeping and Starbucks.

Until Next time,
Stay Black, because I can't find many black people...lol.

Airports and sorts

So I'm not in London quite yet, but I'm currently having a layover in Philly. 5hours and my uncle decided to go to Florida so nobody to visit. but its cool. I'll take a nap or something.

Today has sure been an adventure. I woke up and cried with my mom, played rockband with my lil brother and talked shop with the younger sister. Then took the taxi to MSP. I was unconscious through the entire ride, turned on some drizzy and was gone. Once to PHL I walked a bit trying to find my gate. finally a lady on an eletric car gave me a ride to gate a. Mad nice of her. Now I'm near my gate staring out the window. figuring out my next move. Well loves see you in London.

P.S.
why are the only black people I'm seeing here workers for the airport....just saying.
